Qualia

Qualia was the third in a series of video art projects I scored for Billy Tran. Actually, 'scored' isn't the best word for it. Projects such as these don't call for a musical counterpoint, as the film is not a narrative; instead, the score is more of a simultaneous re-telling of the ideas and emotions with the piece.

This particular film relates what Billy describes as the "content of subjective experience." It goes through a series of sequences, wherein individual perspectives are gradually delineated. For this project I composer extremely spatial and atmospheric electronic music. More than anything it was created to smooth over the sound design and shape the interpretation of the increasingly differentiated experiences.
